About the shop

M and W Leather is a small business located in Warsaw NC, USA. M and W, was founded in 1991 and is dedicated to producing high quality leather goods.

Mike started working with leather in 1983 as a senior in high school, helping his dad make belts while learning the trade. In 1990, he met Wendy, and one year later they were married and M and W Leather was founded. Over the years, they were blessed with 3 children that shaped the business into a family-owned operation. They also have another business—Brock’s Produce, a roadside produce stand that will be approaching its 34th year in operation in 2025. Their children have been watching and learning the trade of both businesses, which they believe taught them work ethics and responsibilities in life.

Wendy can be found fulfilling orders, and managing the shop daily. She hand-dyes majority of all products in their shop. Her specialties are the guitar straps, rifle slings, and all the leather buckles. She gives the added touch and is always brainstorming to make the business better. Wendy manages the website and their Etsy shop.

While all the hustle and bustle is happening in the shop day to day, Mike can be found helping fullfill orders, but specializing in making belts. He makes the bulk of all the belts that are sold online as well as local events and festivals. When they have big shows approaching, Mike is found working overtime making belts needed for each event.

Their children grew up in this business and know the trade well. In 2018, their son Hunter, came aboard M and W Leather and began helping with the websites and orders. He added new items to the business, including gun holsters, wallets, key chains, and many others. He does all the stitched leather items and gun holsters. He does the bulk of all tooling and occasionally hand carves a beautiful piece of leather. They all work together as a family to ensure there is enough stock and orders are filled. while striving to have the best quality product to offer their customers. They are very proud that each and every item leaving their shop was hand-made by one or all of them. They have always been asked the question, Is this 'real' leather? They are proud to say that each and every item they sell was cut from US Steer hides. They guarantee their belts will not break like those bought in commercial stores.

Their goal is to please each and every customer and want their customers to know each piece is given thorough inspection, assuring they receive the best of the best.

They give thanks to God for their business, their family, and all the many blessings they have been given. He is the reason M and W Leather is where they are today!

Side note- they have 7 dogs that lounge the shop daily, all of which are rescues. Mike and Wendy are still searching for ideas on teaching them ( the dogs) how to make belts or at least one of their leather products??? Thoughts are welcome!
